ProfileForge is a personal project created and operated by a solo developer. This is not a corporate entity or registered business—it's a passion project built to help people create better resumes while respecting their privacy.
What This Means For You
- This is a non-commercial personal project - no business model, no investors
- Built and maintained by one developer in their spare time
- Completely free with no plans for monetization
- No corporate policies or legal departments - just transparent privacy practices
- Your data is handled by one person, not a company
Information We Collect
We collect only the information you provide when creating your resume:
- Personal details (name, email, phone, location)
- Work experience and employment history
- Education background and qualifications
- Skills, certifications, and achievements
- Resume preferences and template choices
Important: What We DON'T Collect
- Passwords or login credentials (no accounts required)
- Payment information (our service is completely free)
- Sensitive personal data (SSN, ID numbers, etc.)
- Browser history or unrelated browsing data
- IP addresses or location data (beyond what your browser shares)
How We Store Your Data
Local Browser Storage Only
All your resume data is stored exclusively in your web browser's local storage. This means:
- Your data never leaves your device
- We don't have servers storing your information
- Only you can access your data on the device you use
- Your information is as secure as your browser/device
No Cloud Backup
Since data stays in your browser:
- Clearing browser data will delete your resumes
- Using a different browser or device won't show your saved resumes
- We strongly recommend downloading completed resumes as PDF/Word files
- There is no way for me (the developer) to access or recover your data
Developer's Access
As the sole developer of this project, I cannot access your resume data. It exists only in your browser. If you clear your browser data or lose access to your device, I have no way to recover it for you.
How We Use Your Information
We use your data only to:
- Generate and display your resume in real-time
- Save your progress within the same browser session
- Allow you to edit and update your resume
- Provide resume templates and formatting options
What We DON'T Do
- We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information
- We do NOT use your data for advertising or marketing
- We do NOT share your information with third parties (except essential services below)
- We do NOT track you across other websites
- We do NOT create user profiles or analytics from your data
Third-Party Services
We use minimal third-party services to provide our functionality:
- Formspree: For feedback form submissions (only if you choose to submit feedback)
- FontAwesome: For icons displayed on our site
- Google Fonts: For typography and better reading experience
These services may collect standard log data (like IP address) as per their own privacy policies.
Technical Simplicity
As a personal project, ProfileForge uses the simplest possible tech stack. No analytics, no tracking scripts, no ad networks. Just clean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript running in your browser.
Your Rights & Control
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: View your data anytime in the resume builder
- Export: Download your resume in PDF, Word, or Text formats
- Delete: Clear browser storage to remove all data instantly
- Edit: Modify your information anytime during your session
- Opt-out: Simply close your browser to stop using our service
How to Delete Your Data
To permanently delete all your ProfileForge data:
- Open your browser settings
- Navigate to "Privacy" or "Clear browsing data"
- Select "Local storage" or "Site data"
- Clear data for profileforge.com
Immediate Deletion
Because your data is stored locally, deletion is immediate and permanent. Once cleared from your browser, it cannot be recovered by anyone—including me as the developer.
Data Security
Since your data never leaves your device:
- No risk of server breaches or database hacks
- Your information is protected by your browser's security
- We recommend keeping your browser updated for maximum security
- Download important resumes for backup and safekeeping
A Personal Commitment
As a solo developer, I've designed ProfileForge to be secure by architecture, not just by policy. The fact that your data stays in your browser isn't just convenient—it's the core of our privacy approach.
Children's Privacy
ProfileForge is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact me to have it removed.
Changes to This Policy
I may update this privacy policy occasionally. I will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of ProfileForge after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Notification Method
As a personal project, I don't have newsletter systems or mass notification tools. Policy changes will be announced on the ProfileForge website and GitHub repository. Significant changes will be highlighted in update notes.
